Root Canal

Root Canal Treatment

If you have been experiencing severe tooth pain when chewing or biting down, or if your gums have swollen up, then you may have to undergo a root canal treatment. These symptoms usually surface when a person has an inflammation or infection in the tooth’s pulp tissue. Since the pulp tissue is made up of nerve cells, blood vessels and connective tissues, you experience intense pain in the affected tooth. If the condition is not treated, it can lead to a dental abscess or exacerbate other systemic health issues.

During a root canal, our dentists first administer anaesthesia to numb the teeth and the area around it. Then, a tiny opening is made at the infected tooth’s surface, so that the infected pulp inside can be removed. The pulp chamber is disinfected and cleaned, and the never canal is sealed with a material to prevent the occurrence of infection in the future. Dental fillings or crowns may be used to seal the teeth at the end of the treatment. Detecting and diagnosing if a tooth is infected and needs root canal treatment can help prevent unnecessary extraction, bridges or implants.

Dental Crowns and Bridges

Dental Crowns and Bridges are used to treat patients with damaged or missing teeth. The need to repair or replace teeth may arise when the teeth suffers damage or has been lost due to injury, gum disease, or excessive decay.

Crowns are used in cases where the tooth cannot be restored using dental fillings, such as the presence of large cavities, broken, cracked, chipped or discolored teeth. Crowns are also used to strengthen weak teeth, anchor bridges, replace missing teeth, or seal teeth that have been treated using root canal. Crowns are fabricated so that they resemble natural teeth and sit neatly on the problematic tooth to cover it. Our dentists fabricate crowns individually for each patient, so they provide optimal fit, appearance, bite and function.

Bridges are used as a dental prosthetic to replace missing teeth. They consist of one or more artificial teeth that are anchored onto the natural teeth that are adjacent to the missing teeth, with the help of dental crowns. Dental implants may also be used to support dental bridges in some cases. Once the dental bridges are placed you will be able to resume your speaking and mastication habits as you would with natural teeth.

Full and Partial Dentures

Full and Partial Dentures are artificial teeth that serve the purpose of missing teeth which have been lost due to injury, decay or gum disease. Missing teeth can make the facial muscles sag there by giving an older appearance, aside from affecting speaking and chewing functionality, and causing the jaw bone to deteriorate. Dentures can be fabricated so that they match the appearance of your existing teeth and provide optimal bite.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures or partials, consist of a few teeth that are fabricated on a base that resembles the tooth gums. The prosthetic teeth on the partials fit with the existing teeth like puzzle pieces such that they fill the gaps from the missing teeth. Brackets or clips may be used to secure the partials in place. Partials are removable, unlike dental bridges.

Full or Complete Dentures

Full dentures consist of a complete set of teeth for the bottom or top that are mounted on a gum-like base. They can either be open or close palate, and are secured in place with the help of adhesives.
